Tobias fought to fund full-day kindergarten for every child in Oregon, because studies show it can help change their lives.
RAINY DAY FUND
Tobias led the charge to establish a state Rainy Day Fund because sound management when times are good avoids painful cuts and tax increases when times are tough.
SAVING FOR RETIREMENT
Tobias made it easier for more than a million Oregonians, who don't get a retirement plan from their employer, to save for their retirements.
Throughout his time in the legislature, Tobias has championed legislation that connects innovation with job creation. By building bridges between Oregon's research universities and industry needs, the Oregon Innovation Council creates good-paying jobs right here at home in areas likes clean-tech and green building.
Making Oregon a Leader in Innovation
Tobias Read secured the passage of House Bill 2700, which redirects unclaimed funds in a class action lawsuit to Legal Aid and to a "next best" nonprofit directly related to the case. Before this bill passed, Oregon was one of only two states in the nation that sent unclaimed damages back to corporate wrongdoers.
